Education is a powerful tool in preventing fires and saving lives. The San Bernardino City Fire Department offers fire prevention education to inform and heighten our community's fire safety awareness. Our mission is to reduce fire incidents and to protect life and property through public education; our primary emphasis targets audiences from the very young to the elderly and those with disabilities. The San Bernardino City Fire Department wants to help ensure that the residents of San Bernardino are safe from fire and unintentional injuries.

Fire Department members take a full-service approach to delivering public education programs, including station tours, apparatus demonstrations, school life-safety programs, neighborhood/community groups, career presentations, and juvenile firesetter intervention.

Programs can be requested be calling the San Bernardino City Fire Department at (909) 384-5407. To avoid scheduling conflicts, please call at least three weeks in advance to request a program.

Public education provides a comprehensive program to educate the general public on fire safety issues. Elements of the program include:

Educational presentations on fire prevention and fire/life safety for the home/apartment.
Fire Safety House, information booths and displays at community functions.
Corporate health fairs and school district events.
- School reading programs.
Station tours and equipment displays.
Participation in student/government career days.
