San Bernardino Seeking Proposals
for CDBG and ESG Community Grants
The application period for local non-profits runs through January 23rd
The City of San Bernardino's Community and Economic Development Department’s Housing Division is now accepting proposals for its 2023 – 2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program. Applications will be accepted until January 23rd, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. The City anticipates receiving just under $3.4 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to award for these programs.
The City of San Bernardino’s CDBG program can fund eligible community and economic development projects and programs. Eligible activities must meet one of the following national objectives: 1) principally benefit low-and moderate-income persons, 2) eliminate slums and blight, and 3) meet an urgent need.
The City is also seeking applications from local organizations that have experience and are qualified to provide services that are eligible for ESG funding, whose purpose is to assist individuals and families to quickly regain stability in permanent housing from crises or homelessness. Eligible activities for ESG funds include street outreach, emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing assistance, and data collection.
Applications may be picked up in person at the Community and Economic Development office Mondays through Thursdays, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on the third floor at 201 N. E Street in San Bernardino. Applications are also available online at www.sbcity.org/housing.
