Applications Being Accepted through May 17 for the San Bernardino Youth Civic Engagement Council
The San Bernardino Youth Civic Engagement Council (“Youth Council”) is a program for motivated high school juniors and seniors who are eager to learn more about the city they live in and the local government that runs it.
The program is a partnership between the City of San Bernardino (“City”) and SBCUSD and will take place during the 2023-24 school year, from August 2023 to May 2024, and will meet once a month after school.
During its meetings, Youth Council members will participate in a variety of job shadowing activities such as workplace tours, training sessions, and question-and-answer panel discussions and interviews with City staff and elected officials. Through these activities, members will learn about City operations from various department employees, directors, and elected officials. Members will also engage in policy discussions and provide feedback from the perspective of a youth living in the City of San Bernardino.
Applications are currently being accepted through May 17 and City staff are requesting your assistance in disseminating the application to students you believe would be interested in this program. Additional information and the application can be found on the City’s website at https://www.sbcity.org/youthcouncil.
